Our goal is to make the best rescue match taking into consideration the dog’s background and your family's needs. Every dog is different: personality, temperament, energy, comfort with kids and other animals, medical needs and more. We take all these factors into consideration when making a furever-home match. We are very careful about the placements we make. We do our best to match the right dog with the right home because we want to prevent the return of a dog to the rescue and for this to be the dog’s permanent home.
We appreciate you wanting to bring a dog into your home. In order for us to find the right pet for you, we need you to submit an adoption application.
We will review your application upon receipt. If we have any questions or concerns, we will contact you for clarity.
Once your application review is complete, a Rescue Garage volunteer will contact you to schedule a home visit to meet in person or submit a virtual home check via email and discuss all-things dog. During the home visit, we look for potential hazards for the dog that the adopter may not have considered. We are not looking at tidiness, but rather safety issues for an incoming dog or puppy. We have found unsecured electrical wiring, unsafe toys and toxic plants and room diffusers on home visits.
Once approved to adopt, the search for your dog begins. Adoption coordinators will begin to evaluate pets currently in our foster care program who may be a good fit for you and your family and to discuss dogs in our care that you are specifically interested in.
